A career in care

Career In Care

Have you ever considered a career in care?

West Sussex County Council  are aiming to recruit over 8,000 carers by 2024 and have put together this short video to explore and share many misconceptions – we think it is rather good and we know many great people in the community that thrive and really find their work very rewarding.

WSCC are also putting together 3 special events in June and July to offer potential carers the opportunity to meet and have chat about working in care to find out what vacancies are available.

Please take a look at these events and pop along if you are interested.

If you are interested and would like a bit more information – you don’t need any qualifications to become a care worker. Many care providers offer opportunities to gain qualifications once people have started their jobs. For example, people who start in the care sector will work towards gaining their Care Certificate (a set of standards that social care and health workers stick to in their daily working life).

Once you’ve started, there are plenty of options for career progression.

Care work is needed in a variety of places; care homes, in the local community and in people’s homes.

You can work with so many different people, including:

  • young adults
  • older people
  • those with a physical or learning disability
  • people receiving end of life care.

West Sussex County Council is aiming to recruit a further 8,840 more people to take up this most rewarding and satisfying work by 2024.
