Bookworms in Reigate & Banstead Benefitting From Little Libraries
Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has installed what it calls little free libraries into community green spaces to help make literature available to residents as they go about their everyday lives.
The mini-libraries which hold around 20 books are in five locations – Redhill Memorial Park, Lady Neville Park in Banstead, Earlswood Lakes, New Pond Farm Allotment and Priory Park in Reigate.
Residents can borrow and exchange books, share the love of reading, spark keen conversations about literature, and stay longer in the green spaces to help support positive health and wellbeing.
The borough’s miniature libraries hold a wide variety of books suitable for all ages, from young children to adult literature across all genres, including crime thrillers and works by Shakespeare.
The books have been donated by borough residents and Redhill-based charity, Stripey Stork, and can be borrowed and exchanged for other titles which can be continued to be enjoyed by residents.
