East Grinstead Charity Wins Queen’s Award

East Grinstead Charity Wins Queen’s Award

Last month, CARE in East Grinstead and Lingfield, a charity founded in 1988 by churches in and around East Grinstead received the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The charity, organised, run and staffed entirely by volunteers which was founded by the church, was honoured by Her Majesty the Queen in the 2019 Birthday Honours List in the summer.

The charity has been providing transport to hospital, doctor and dental appointments for those who do not have any other means of getting to them across the East Grinstead area for 31 years.

Volunteers can also provide help with jobs in the house or garden as well as assistance with shopping, with only a small donation suggested according to the help provided but this can be waived.

CARE East Grinstead and Lingfield’s award was presented to the charity by the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, Sally Pyper, at the Crowne Plaza, Felbridge on Wednesday, September 11.
