Help the Breck Foundation Raise Money for Online Safety Awareness Music
By Jamie Di Francescomarino
A Trustee for The Breck Foundation, a charity set up after the murder of 14-year-old Breck Bednar who was groomed and killed by an 18-year-old he met online, is doing more to raise awareness.
Mark Harrington has a background in special needs education and is currently a teacher at manor Green College. With the foundation, Mark is developing 3 music tracks specifically for SEN learners to understand the importance of online safety and the devastating story and emotions of Breck’s murder, through music.
After speaking to Mark he said, “Our work is to essentially make online safety accessible to all, we are currently fundraising but due to the COVID-19 outbreak, this has been made difficult for us to hit our £1000 target”.
The money raised will go towards finishing the production of the 3 tracks, getting the singers into a professional studio and hopefully, in time get the recognition out into the world to help parents and educators teach online safety differently, in a way that works for all children to understand.
