Horley Lions Invite Pub Regulars On The Pull

When was the last time you saw a proper tug of war competition? Teams of eight are invited to prove they are the strongest in the Horley, Reigate and Redhill area.

Horley Lions Club is including this traditional show of strength as part of its Country Show & Family Fun Day to be held on Sunday, September 9 at Horley Recreation Ground. Proceeds from the event will go to the Children’s Ward at East Surrey Hospital.

Horley Lions Club is a member of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organisation, formed 55 years-ago it currently has a membership of 30 and last year it raised more than £40,000 for good causes.

Chris Hancock, landlord of The Bull pub in Horley Row who has assembled the first team to pay their £25 entry fee, said: “My regulars have the strongest pulling power in the town and we challenge any other pub or club to beat us.”
