Mid Sussex Talking Newspaper Requires Volunteers

Yews Talking Newspaper provides local news and information in audio format every week for those living in and around Mid Sussex who can’t access the printed word. It is available in a variety of ways such as online on your phone or your computer, your smart speaker, or by post for those who qualify.
The weekly recording includes extracts from the Mid-Sussex Times and other publications, together with useful local information and items of general interest. Preparation and distribution of the recording is all done by volunteers, and is completely free, as is any postage to visually-impaired recipients.
The Yews Talking News of Mid-Sussex is a registered charity and has provided this service free of charge for over 25 years and supplies these recordings on memory sticks for which a simple player can be provided.
To provide this valued service we require volunteers to help with reading the news and recording it and for copying and despatch.
Working in one of these areas requires a commitment of up to 2 hours per month. No previous experience is required, full training will be given and you will be working as part of a small friendly team.
We welcome enquiries directly from potential recipients, as well as family, friends, carers, Social Services, Opticians, or anyone else who may benefit from or knows someone who may benefit from our service.
We Need You!
Yews Talking News is looking for volunteers in the area to help produce the much-appreciated service of providing local news and information in audio format for people with sight impairments or loss.
