St Catherine’s In 2019
The much-loved Sussex-based charity, St Catherine’s Hospice is inviting you to join it as it announces two fantastic fundraisers for 2019. The charity, which specialises in end-of-life care and support is asking the adventurous to scale five great peaks and embracing train enthusiasts aboard the Belmond British Pullman.
A new year and two new fundraising events for St Catherine’s Hospice which provides end-of-life care and support to terminally ill people and their families across East Surrey, Mid Sussex and West Sussex.
From Friday, June 21 to Sunday, June 23, intrepid and charitable trekkers are being invited to tackle five of the Lake District’s most demanding mountain peaks, including the region’s and England’s highest mountain – Scafell Pike.
The setting for the trek – St Catherine’s first in the UK will offer tireless trekkers a unique opportunity to take in the Lake District’s stunning views while challenging themselves to an experience like no other. Accommodation for those tackling the trek will be at the Hawkshead
YHA, where guests will have the opportunity to stay in a range of exciting overnight locations including tipis, camping pods, and cabins.
Michaela Clements, of St Catherine’s Hospice, says: “We’re thrilled to launch our first UK trek. It’s the opportunity for anyone who is looking for a challenge a little closer to home, to join us in a breath-taking region of the UK. We can currently only care for one in three local people, but with your help we can reach everyone who needs us. I can’t wait to create an ultimate trekking team for St Catherine’s!”
Before the five peaks challenge, the Belmond British Pullman will arrive in Horsham on Saturday, May 18. The sister train of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express promises passengers an unforgettable trip – travelling in style with carriages restored to the glory of their 1920’s heyday, passengers will step back in time to an age of glamour and luxury, impeccable service and comfort.
From Horsham station, passengers will be welcomed on board the impressive train departing for the historic town of Windsor. Passengers can indulge in a Bellini brunch before having time to explore Windsor, including the town’s famous castle – entry included. On the return journey, passengers will be welcomed back on board with a glass of champagne before an exquisite three course dinner and wine.
