Reigate School Scoops Prestigious International language Award
Dunottar School in Reigate has received the British Council International School Award, which is a British Council accreditation scheme for schools with a notable global element in their curriculum.
To qualify, Dunottar’s Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department provided evidence of international curriculum-based activities, including an exchange trip with a partner school in Angers, France.
The British Council’s International School Award team stated that the school: “Is clearly motivated and committed to develop an international dimension to (its) curriculum and whole-school ethos.”
It added that the activities: “involve significant numbers of students learning about other countries and aspects of their culture/history/language in a curriculum-based context, thus promoting citizenship.
Dunottar School’s head of MFL, Sylvie Bartlett-Rawlings, said: “Now that Dunottar has successfully reached the intermediate level, we aim to work towards the next stage of full accreditation.”
