Showtime In West Hoathly!
Following a successful show two-years-ago, West Hoathly School Association and the Seasoned Sausage Company are organising a second game fair and country show on Saturday, June 3.
The ethos behind the show is to provide the local community with an affordable, educational and fun day out while raising funds for the village school and some local charities who help with the show.
Many families are unable to afford to go to the larger and established country fairs, so the aim is to offer an alternative. Entry is £5.00 for adults and free to under 16’s with free parking at the showground.
In 2015, the show was held on the village recreation ground, but due to a large number of visitors and the increase in events for 2017 means the show has been moved to a larger site on Hook Lane.
On Friday, June 2, The Fox pub will be serving drinks in the beer tent from 7.00pm to 11.000pm, and the band Kilda Street will be playing live from 9.00pm. Entry for adults is £1.00, to cover the band costs.
On Saturday, June 3, there is a full timetable of events in the main arena, including a fun dog show, tug of war, welly wanging, horse and hound demonstration and bird of prey displays.
There will be traditional and rural craft demonstrations to watch including chainsaw carving demonstrations. Adults and children can try the have-a-go 4/10 clay shoot stand, run by Will Buckley.
The Young Farmers will be holding their popular terrier racing, and you can have a go at ferret racing or handling a ferret. You can also walk with llamas from the local llama park.
If you fancy a bit of shopping, there will be lots of stalls to browse, including country clothing and shooting accessories, art and crafts, food and drink, jewellery and lots of children’s entertainments.
The National Organisation for Beaters (NOBS), the British Deer Society, and The National Gamekeepers Organisation (NGO) will also be there to educate you about their countryside work.
Following the big day in the village, on the evening of Saturday, June 3, there will be a barn dance from 8.00pm onwards in the beer tent, with hot food available, tickets cost £5.00.
