St Catherine’s Hospice Weekly Quiz raises over £6,000 quid!
St Catherine’s Hospice has been beaming live into people’s lounges throughout lockdown to entertain them with their Big Fat Orange Quiz!
Over the last few months, the local charity’s quiz built up a loyal following of fans. They enjoyed themed rounds, music, pictures and everything in between! Last week in a special summer finale, the local hospice revealed that quizzers had helped them raise more than £6,000.
The community were reminded of what a difference this money will make with video updates from hospice staff during each quiz.
Tom Abbott, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at St Catherine’s said, “We’ve had a great time hosting our Big Fat Orange quiz. It’s been a lovely way to stay connected to our community, and to bring some light relief during some challenging months. As restrictions start to ease, and we can enjoy summer evenings more, it felt like the right time for us to take a break. We’re so grateful to everyone who has joined us for our quizzes, whether one off or weekly, and we’re thrilled that the quizzes have raised over £6,000. At a time when our usual events have been cancelled, and some of our charity shops are still temporarily closed, we’ve seen a severe shortfall in our funding. The money people generously donated throughout the quizzes will make a huge difference. It will allow us to continue to support local people and their families through this challenging time and beyond, at the hospice or in the comfort of their homes. Whilst we’re very grateful for all the support we’ve received, we know we can’t stand still. We continue to explore new, exciting fundraising options and we hope people will support these as well.”
